According to UNWTO, world tourism has shown the growth of 6% in the first half of 2018. This result is a bit lower than the entire growth in 2017 when this indicator reached 7%. UNWTO considers these changes a good indicator of the international integration in the society.
At the same time, UNWTO noticed that the level of tourism is growing unevenly in different region all over the world. For example, the number of tourists in Asia increased by 7%, while the Mediterranean and South East Asia have shown 9% growth.
World tourism is actively developing, while people are getting more open to new experience. In the first half of 2018, the overall growth reached 6%.
The lowest speed of world tourism development was recorded in Africa and the Middle East: 4% and 5% correspondingly. South America has shown the growth of 7%, while North America reached only 5%.
Among the most active tourists in 2018, one can find citizens of France, the UK, and Russia. They spend two times more money on tourism and foreign trips that in the previous year. At the same time, Chinese people managed to remain at the same level, but they still spend more money than any other tourists in the world.
The forecast for the second half of 2018 is also positive because the number of tourists will grow, even though the speed will be slower than in the first half of the year.
