Easter is the major Christian event, and faithful all over the world welcome it with festivals and celebrations. How does London do it? Here is your holiday schedule for the upcoming weekend, with free entry events included.
Saturday, April 20
You can start the day with an Easter Fair at Horniman Museum and Gardens that offers a themed trail, workshops and narrating stories. While you are there, visit the wonderful Lego exhibition running since mid-February. The Fair entry is free of charge and available 10:30 to 14:30.
Right after your museum visit you can head to Trafalgar Square, to take part in the Feast of St George. This festival is full of live performances, food and gifts stands, and is family-friendly. The event is also free of charge – just turn up 12:00 to 18:00!
Sunday, April 21
For an Easter family meal, have a delicious roast with wine, ale or cider at one of the many London’s restaurants. Roast, The Anchor & Hope, and Hawksmoor Borough are placed closer to the central part. Vegan won’t stay hungry either, with crispy potatoes, tasty puddings and colorful veggies at Café Van Gogh, The Wilmington or The Old Queens Head. Just don’t forget to book in advance.
For your little ones who may enjoy a tradition of hunting Easter eggs, you may take part in this fun activity before dinner, to work up an appetite. Head to Fulham Palace if you are older than 3, for a free trail, or to Chelsea Physic Garden visited by the Easter bunny, for £7.5. Both venues open at 11 a.m.
