On the 20th day of June, the Dubai Opera will hold the concert of two famous pianists from Croatia, Bruno Vlahek (he’s also a talented composer) and Dubravka Vukalovic. They are promised to perform not really popular, yet incredibly romantic works by Camille Saint-Saens, Enrique Granados, Manuel de Falla (who wrote the ‘Magic Love’) and Emmanuelle Chabry. At the end of the evening, both masters will play on one piano at the same time.
Vlahek has already become the real star in the world of classical music due to his incredible piano playing skills. He started to play piano in the city of Zagreb when he was just 9. He showed an incredible talent and became a pianist. He managed to graduate from the Musical Academy of Zagreb two years earlier than his classmates, thus becoming the youngest graduate of the institution. After that, he studied at the School of Music in Cologne with Vasily Lobanov and worked with Johans Fritsch and Tillman Claus.
The style of Vlahek is called “fantastic”, while his works “are charming the audience with their deepness”. Critics call him “the second Pogorelic”. He wrote more than 40 cameral, orchestral and solo works, which can be found in the theatres of Chicago, New York, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Cambridge, Prague, Vien, Salzburg, Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Seoul. In 2012 Vlahek became the winner of the XXXIII International Competition of organ music Cristobal Halffter in Spain.
Dubai Opera will hold the concert of the Croatian duet of Bruno Vlahek and Dubravka Vukalovic on June 20.
Dubravka Vukalovic is famous for her performance with many maestros of the classic piano school. She studied with the famous director and pianist from Switzerland, Jean-Francois Antonioli, Rudolf Kerer, Anatoly Katz and Ralph Gothoni. She participated in a couple of concerts with Vlahek, so their performance in Dubai will become a real celebration for the fans of classical music.
