If you are looking for a worthy vacation or weekend destination, Barcelona is always an option. Here is some useful information.
1. When to visit Barcelona
Come here any time of the year – summers are warm (rarely hotter than +30°C), winters are fine and comfortable (+10°C) and the bathing suit season lasts May to October. The only thing to consider is an increased number of tourists coming here during Christmas and Easter holidays and in summer. Accommodation prices are higher then.
2. What to pack
Bring comfortable footwear, something to cover yourself with for late walks, beachwear and sun protection in summer, a raincoat in autumn, and a warm coat in winter.
3. When is Barcelona active
On working days stores are open morning to evening; museums accept visitors 10 (11) a.m. to 5 (6) p.m.; banks work from 8:30 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. Mondays are usually non-business, but some sights – like Sagrada Familia and the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art – are open. Siesta takes place approximately 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
4. How much to tip
Gratuity left for good service here normally totals:
- About 5% of bill amount at restaurants
- A round bill sum at cafes
- 20-30 cents in taxis
- 1 euro per each suitcase to bellhops
